About Us
Welcome! I’m Amy, the outdoor enthusiast and dog lover behind this blog. My hiking partner is Juniper, my energetic pup who believes every leaf and stick on the trail was placed there just for her.
Here you’ll find dog-friendly hiking guides to National and State Parks, honest trail reviews, and practical tips for hiking with dogs. I also share our favorite dog hiking gear, lessons we’ve learned on the trail, and helpful advice for anyone planning dog-friendly hikes or outdoor adventures with their pup. Along the way, you’ll also learn about programs like the US Bark Ranger program and groups such as the National Parks Travelers Club that help connect outdoor lovers with America’s incredible park system.
Whether you’re just starting to hike with your dog or rediscovering your love for the outdoors through dog-friendly trails, my goal is to help you plan safe, memorable adventures with your best friend.
So grab a leash, lace up your boots, and we’ll see you out on the trail.
Amy
I grew up enjoying the great outdoors—sports, beaches, mountains, national parks, hiking, and fishing. These days I’m still happiest outside exploring trails and planning our next adventure. I’m enjoying this crazy thing called life with my husband, three dogs, and a guinea pig.
Juniper
Juniper graced the world with her presence on August 27, 2025. She’s a Dalmatian–Poodle mix (heavy on the mix) with endless energy reserves and always ready for an adventure.
Patrick
Patrick is the husband who is along for the ride. He enjoys hiking but hates planning—which works out perfectly since I love researching trails and planning our adventures.
Hercules
Hercules is our senior boy who loves blankies and absolutely hates being cold… and wet… and in nature. He joins us for easy, slow-going hikes and road trips. At 11 years old, he’s happiest soaking up the sun from the window or burrowed under a cozy blanket.
Willow
Oh, Willow. She’s 9 years old and does not enjoy dirt, mud, or water—but she will go wild in some sand. She would much rather be carried than actually walk the trail. To be fair, she’s a low rider with little legs.
Wednesday
Our honorary Bark Ranger, Wednesday is our remaining guinea pig. At one point we had four, but our three seniors have since crossed the rainbow bridge. In true Wednesday fashion, she is both independent and demanding—and happiest with her dried flowers and fresh veggies.
